World Seen Event

What in the world is going on ? ! ? ! ? !

The world of today is filled with hyper-speed, in-your-face internet, surround sound, widescreen, plasma screen "reality," larping, social networking, ubiquitous text messaging, post-emergents, iGen, po-mo hipness, and, like... you know, whatever.

Do you understand the dizzying world of pop culture?

The World Seen is a team of people who passionately believe that for Christians to make a difference in their world they need to understand it. Our priorities include:

  • Helping people to recognize for themselves the essential worldviews we all encounter atheism (naturalism and what we call nihex), western spiritualism (including ecofeminism, wicca, neopaganism, westernized eastern religions, etc.), and theism (Judaism, Islam, and especially Christian).

  • Demonstrating how postmodernism (po-mo) has changed all the rules when studying worldviews and exploring WHY pop culture is what it is.

  • Equipping people to recognize for themselves what messages are actually being communicated through the pop culture they live in--contemporary music, the internet, movies, television, clothes, entertainment, art, etc.

  • Learning why and how to care about people who hold other worldviews, and learning to communicate and interact with them more effectively.

How do we do it? Through a fast-paced, high-energy blend of skits, video, music, power-point, images, comic strips, art, bumper stickers, drama, and both large and small group face-to-face discussion. Fun? Well, sure.

Challenging? Totally! Funny? No joke! But this presentation of what it means to live out Christian faith and values in today's world has the potential to change your perspective profoundly--for a lifetime.

Note | We're NOT going to condemn youth culture, nor tell teens what to watch or listen to. We ARE going to help them understand their culture better.
